WHAT WE DO

Green Building Certification

greenre_corporate_brochure_2020-aug.pdfGreenRE Certification aims to provide a holistic approach to green buildings benchmark, to through improved design, energy requirements, water usage and ultimately the carbon footprint of your development and the well-being of the occupants.

By fulfilling criteria, development projects earn points that determine its certification level, ie. Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum (the highest rating). Certification provides benchmarked standards for efficient use of resources. Adoption of standards allows for developments to quantify their green achievements, in addition to lending transparency and credibility to development projects. Notable projects registered under the GreenRE Certification include:
  • Merdeka PNB 118 (KL118),
  • SP Setia Headquarter,
  • GTower, The Light Penang,
  • EPF building (Kwasaland),
  • Ibu Pejabat RISDA,
  • Straits Quays,
  • Centro Mall,
  •  Eco Business Park I & II,
  • WKL Hotel

GreenRE green building certifications are recognised by authorities in Malaysia such as MESTECC (formerly known KeTTHA), MGTC, MIDA, IRDA and the local authorities.  With GreenRE green building certification, owners of buildings are eligible to apply for tax incentive or investment tax allowance (ITA) from MIDA and MGTC.

GreenRE Certification is available for all types of development, ie residential, factories, offices, malls, hotels, restaurants, interior, infrastructure projects etc.. Browse through our available categories to select the best option for your development.

For a Sustainable Future

The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2018 report highlighted the urgent need to limit global warming to below 1.5°C from pre-industrial levels in order to alleviate the catastrophic impacts of climate change. Under the Paris Agreement, 195 countries committed to this goal- this means our global CO2 emission must be reduced significantly over the next few decades through large sustained emission reduction efforts across all economic sectors.

Why Green Buildings?

In the 2018 Global Status Report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), it was quantified that buildings and the construction sector are one of the key factors in alleviating climate change. Globally, these two sectors account for 36% of final energy use and 39% of energy and process related emissions in 2017. The same report estimates that the energy use per m2 in buildings needs to be reduced by 30% by 2030 to be in line with the Paris Agreement and achieve the Sustainable Development Scenario.

Green Buildings & UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Green buildings are a catalyst and opportunity to save energy, water, and reduce carbon emissions, in addition to educate, create jobs, strengthen communities, improve health and well-being. These are the 8 SDGs that are linked to green buildings, for more information visit www.worldgbc.org

SDG 3 Good Health & Well-being

Green Buildings can improve occupants’ health & well being

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities - Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy

Green Buildings can use renewable energy

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production - Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

SDG 8: Work & Economic Growth

Green building industry creates jobs and boosts the economy

SDG 13: Climate Action

Green Buildings produce lesser emissions, helping to combat climate change

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation

SDG 15: Life on Land
