Governance

GreenRE (Green Real Estate) was set up by the Real Estate and Housing Developer’s Association of Malaysia (REHDA) in 2013 to promote and drive sustainability in Malaysia’s real estate sector. GreenRE consults an advisory panel comprising key stakeholders from relevant ministries, trade associations and academia (GREAP) on strategic matters. GreenRE operations are overseen by leading members of Malaysia’s sustainable real estate sector who comprise GreenRE’s Technical and Training panels respectively.

GreenRE is recognised and supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Climate Change (NRECC), Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre (MGTC) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), (refer to GreenRE Advisory Panel and Collaborations page for full list of supporting organisations). Certified projects qualify for incentives under the Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) scheme by MIDA and the Income Tax Exemption scheme by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).

GreenRE's rating tools are in line with UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the World Green Building Council’s requirements for sustainable building certification.
