Azril Amir Jaafar

Azril Amir Jaafar graduated from the University of Manchester, UK. He worked at Brock Carmichael Architects in Liverpool, Holford Associates in Manchester and TR Hamzah and Yeang in Kuala Lumpur before joining VERITAS in 1999.

Azril is a corporate member of Malaysian Institute of Architects and a Green Building Index Facilitator. His professional development growth has been in tandem with the growth of the company; he became Senior Architect in 2004, an Associate in 2007 and in 2009 he was promoted to become a Principal of VERITAS Design Group.

Azril’s interest in architecture and passion for producing outstanding design has won VERITAS many awards and competitions. This includes ASEAN Energy award 2018, National Energy awards 2018, Cityscape Global awards, Dubai (2017), PAM Gold award (2017), the new PKNS Headquarters Architectural Competition (2010), CNBC / Arabian Properties Quality Award for the most outstanding / creative design (2007), Dubai Islamic Bank Headquarters Architectural Competition (2006), Putrajaya Precinct 4G Architectural competition (2000), National Library Singapore (1999), CDM Competition, Salford, England (1998), International Student Design Competition, Korea (1997). Many of his work have been published in local and international publications.

He has spoken widely on design and sustainable architecture. In 2011 he was selected as one of the leading young architects in Malaysia, in a ‘30 under 40’ shortlist compiled by the Malaysian Institute of architects.

Choong Chow Neng

Choong Chow Neng is one of the pioneering staff of G-Energy Global, having joined the company since 2005. An action man who delves into solutions with practicality in mind for all his projects, Mr Choong has a wealth of experience in the Heating & Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system industry since 1997.

The time he spent with a leading German Refrigeration Compressor Manufacturer and subsequently a leading American Chiller Manufacturer equipped Mr Choong with the knowledge and skill set to consult clients on their retrofit and energy projects. May it be equipment selection or contract negotiation, Mr Choong is able to propose direct beneficial solutions to our clients.

Mr Choong Chow Neng joined the ESCO industry in 2003 as mid-management manager. But he was always deeply involved in performing Detailed Energy Audit for buildings (commercial/industrial) and takes it upon himself to identify potential areas in energy savings personally with his team. So sought after was he that his projects spanned numerous countries in Asia.

He lectures for Singapore Certified Energy Manager and Green Mark. Professional course mainly on modules like Energy Management and Economics, Energy Audit and Measurement, Efficient ACMV and Efficient Method to Maintain Indoor Relative Humidity.

Ar. Clement is a Principal Architect registered under Board of Architect Malaysia (LAM). Graduated from University of Melbourne in 1999, he has 16 years of experience in various housing, commercial and institution projects. He is the founder of Clement Wong Architecture and also the leader of the Company’s Project Management Team which role and responsibility is to oversee the full cycle of the project, and to provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC).

This firm focusing on sustainable design and a touch of creativity and the projects consist of residential, institutions, commercials, highrise and resorts. Clement Wong Architecture also focus on green building design and productively engage in global community. Dr Stellios is a renowned pioneer of sustainable design with a particular focus on the long-term effects of the Built Environment on human health, society, climate change, and land use. After more than 18 years of experience in the building engineering and architecture industry, Farizan made her move into the green building consultancy after realizing the gap between business and sustainability in the South East Asian market. Gregers Reimann
Managing Director, IEN Consultants Sdn Bhd

Gregers Reimann is the managing director of IEN Consultants, the pioneering green building consultancy in Malaysia, with offices in Singapore as well as China. He specialises in building designs that have good daylighting, are highly energy efficient and have excellent thermal and visual comfort.

Key project references during his 10 years of working in Asia include the Setia City Mall (first green certified shopping mall in Malaysia), the new IKEA in Kuala Lumpur (ongoing), ST Diamond Building (2012 ASEAN Energy Award winner) and the GEO Building designed to be a zero energy office building. Other green projects include the KLIA2 airport terminal, the KL Eco City, energy efficiency building retrofit works, and the Pertamina Energy Tower – the first skyscraper designed to be ZERO energy. Gregers has also been a technical reviewer for the EU Energy-Efficiency Buildings project and is newly appointed Chairman of the “Green Buildings and Sustainable Communities” committee under the EU-Malaysian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (EUMCCI).

Gregers regularly contributes to green building articles and frequently guest lectures at universities internationally. Nic Chin is the co-author of Building Energy Efficiency Technical Guideline for Active and Passive Design, an informative guide to implementing active and passive designs to enhance energy efficiency of a building. The guideline was published as part of a project initiated by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and Public Works Department (PWD) Malaysia.

Nic is among the few experts in the local modelling and simulation engineering scene. During his time in the field, he has simulated over hundreds of cases on optimising energy efficiency in buildings within the Malaysian climate. Nic founded an Energy and Sustainable Consulting firm; Green Quarter Sdn Bhd and has been involved in various NGOs in promoting sustainability. Ir Tiah Oon Ling

An active REHDA member 1998, Ir Tiah is currently the REHDA Secretary General and REHDA Exco member. With over 25 years’ experience in the engineering and housing and construction field, Ir Tiah is also involved in various government agencies and working committees in relation to housing policies, regulations and procedural matters.

He sits on the Board of Directors for the Construction Labour Exchange Centre Berhad (CLAB) under CIDB, and other CIDB working committees to improve the quality of the construction industry in Malaysia. Ir Tiah is also actively involved with Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) committees, namely Kumpulan Wang Sumbangan Modal Pembetungan (KWSMP), ‘Taskforce on Revision of Population Equivalent of SOHO & SOVO units’ etc.

Teo Chui Ping

Ping is a qualified barrister and solicitor. Since leaving legal practice in 2003, she has worked in property development and management in Malaysia and has extensive experience in managing shopping centres and office buildings under her family business. Built under the group, the 1 First Avenue office tower was awarded the first Gold-rated commercial green building certification in Malaysia in 2012. Since then, the 1 Powerhouse / Avante Hotel TOD integrated development has achieved GreenRE Gold certification and Centro Mall a GreenRE Bronze certification. Centro Mall is also the first green certified building in the Royal town of Klang. As Secretary General of REHDA Malaysia, she also represents the views of the property development industry on the GreenRE Technical Panel.

Lee is a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), a Professional Engineer registered to Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM). He is also GREENRE AP, Green Building Index (GBI) Facilitator and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional in Operation & Maintenance (O&M)). Ir. Lee is a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) by the Energy Commission. He is also a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) registered with the Association of Energy Engineers, USA.

He is a Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia Grid-Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) design qualified person (QP). In addition, he is a member of the Technical Committee for the Malaysian Standards in Electric Vehicle (EV) charging.

Rubern Chandran

Sustainability Specialist, CIMB

Rubern has been in the built environment sphere for more than 12 years and specializes in green building certification, energy efficiency and renewable energy. He holds a Masters Degree in Energy Technology and is also a GBI Facilitator and WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP). In his current capacity, Rubern is helping CIMB meet their net zero target by 2030 for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Leong Sai Pink

Leong has been with Gamuda Land Sdn Bhd for over 11 years. Leong holds a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. As the Head of the Sustainability Unit at Gamuda Land Sdn Bhd, Leong leads green building implementation, project management, and strategic sustainability communications. With extensive experience in sustainability, Leong has driven key initiatives like the Low Carbon City Framework, green building frameworks, and the implementation of solar PV and EV chargers. Previously, Leong held roles in business transformation and project management, contributing significantly to Gamuda Land's sustainable development goals.

Ir Kevin Hor

Head of Business Development , ENGIE South East Asia

Kevin Hor is a registered professional engineer as well as a registered electrical energy manager. He holds two degrees from Imperial College London and has been extensively involved in the energy and environment sector. He has a track record with various energy efficiency projects where he was responsible for developing energy efficiency financing and incentive models, development of policy papers and has a proven track record in implementation of “low cost/no cost” and investment energy saving measures. He has successfully financed and is in the midst of implementing multiple energy performance contracts in Malaysia. He has successfully commissioned photovoltaic projects in Malaysia and has also been involved in some of the most complex billion-ringgit infrastructure projects in Malaysia and has extensive experience in the green building industry. Having GreenRE and Green Building Index, MyCrest, Measurement and Verification and Certified Energy Auditor certifications he has worked on numerous energy efficient industrial, commercial and residential building designs, standard development and was the leader of a national building sector energy efficiency project funded by UNDP/GEF in Malaysia. He now works on the developing active facilities management solutions incorporating the Internet of Things into building automation and energy efficient systems.

Tan Ching Hong

Manager Group Strategy, Risk & Sustainability IGB Berhad

Tan Ching Hong s a Green Building Consultant with a B.Sc. in Environmental Science and Management from the University of Malaya. As one of the few Malaysians with Green Mark Accredited Professional status, he has managed numerous GBI and Green Mark certification projects since 2011, including high-rise residential, office buildings, hotels, and mixed developments. Notable achievements include the first GreenRe-certification of a non-residential project in Malaysia and the Green Mark Gold office building in Kuala Lumpur. Currently, he is the Sustainability Manager at IGB Berhad, leading ESG initiatives and contributing to Malaysia’s sustainable real estate development.
