SEGI UNIVERSITY STUDENT VISIT TO WISMA REHDA, A GREENRE GOLD CERTIFIED BUILDING
Event Date: 25/09/2019

GreenRE hosted a group of students and lecturers from SEGI University on 18 September 2019 for a Wisma REHDA building tour. The group comprised of 35 undergraduate students and five lecturers from SEGI’s Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Bachelor of Science (Architecture) under the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment (FOEBE).

This visit was organised to foster a deeper understanding of green applications to designing buildings, with emphasis on biophilic and passive design.

During the Wisma REHDA visit, the students were given a 45-minute presentation by GreenRE Assessor Suhana Abdul Rahaman on GreenRE certification tools and Wisma REHDA’s green features. The green features highlighted were building envelope, thermal performance, building orientation to mimise heat gain and facing the direction of prevailing winds, good natural daylighting (daylight factor), energy efficient components, renewable energy (photovoltaic system), rainwater harvesting system, waste management plan etc. Compared to a conventional building, green buildings use less water and energy reducing the use of natural resources. A GreenRE Gold Certified Building can achieve potential energy savings of 25-35%. The visit concluded with a tour of the building.
