Preserving the legacy of Malaysia’s heritage

       Merdeka 118 is a tribute to its location. It is designed
       to embody the amalgamation of the nation’s colourful
       heritage and legacy of its past. Situated amidst the

       Kampung Attap, it tells the story of the nation’s journey to
       independence, encapsulating progress and a confident
       statement of Malaysia’s future – its global presence, its focus
       on sustainability goals, social equity and inclusivity, and
       increased opportunities for community connection.

       Occupying the birth site of Malaya, Merdeka 118’s majestic
       structure was designed with a multi-faceted diamond-
       shaped façade and unique spire atop its north edge,
       symbolising the first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman’s
       outstretched arm as he declared the nation’s independence.
       The exterior architectural expression weaves in the material
       palette of the traditional Songket pattern revealing its genius
       loci. Furthermore the incorporation of the unique, triangular
       façade panels denotes the diversity of socio-economic,
       cultural and ethnic composition of the nation’s social fabric.

       Merdeka 118 towers second in height of the world’s four
       megatall structures. At 678.9m, it contributes to rapidly
