Stepping up energy saving measures
Believing that energy savings start with choices made in
fittings, Chevron utilises 5-star rated electrical appliances
and LED lightings that are more energy efficient. The building
is fitted with a digital power sub-meter to monitor usage of
lighting and air-conditioning to stay on top of energy use.
The retrofitting and energy-saving measures taken save up to
34% of the energy usage as seen in a conventional service
station. This offsets 34% of its total annual carbon emissions,
a significant achievement equated to carbon sequestered by
8,000 trees.
Implementing water positivity
Installed with low-flow water fittings under the Water
Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) and equipped
with a smart digital water meter for monitoring, the service
stations achieve significant water savings of 300% compared
to baseline. The meticulously planned landscaping,
leveraging native and adaptive plants with low water
requirement, minimises potable water used for irrigation.
Prioritising comfort indoors
Emphasising health and wellness all around, Chevon’s project
team used low VOC paint for the indoor walls and maintained
lighting at a comfortable level, adhering to MS1525:2019 to
enhance multitasking activities. A portable thermal control
allows flexibility to adjust indoor temperature and airflow
setpoints in accordance with fluctuating requirements. An
interesting quirk added is a real time energy display showing
the building’s energy usage as an educational tool on energy-
saving practices for the public’s awareness.
