The GreenRE Energy Certificate is a performance-based certification that assesses and recognises the energy efficiency of existing non-residential buildings in Malaysia.
Tailored for the tropical climate, this scheme supports the nation’s sustainability agenda by helping buildings transition towards super low energy consumption.
Developed to drive measurable improvements in energy performance, the certification offers two assessment pathways:
Performance-based criteria – evaluating the efficiency of active systems (e.g., air conditioning, lighting, ventilation).
Outcome-based benchmarking – based on actual, verified energy consumption data.
Buildings that achieve certification under the GreenRE Energy scheme are also eligible for the Energy Commission’s Building Energy Label (BELS)—further validating their energy performance at a national level.
Projects are awarded a rating of Super Low, Platinum, Gold, or Silver, depending on their verified energy performance.
Explore the certified projects below and see how buildings across Malaysia are leading the way in energy efficiency and sustainable operations.
