Tree planting session - Bukit gasing

GreenRE in conjunction with Friends Of Bukit Gasing (FOBG) conducted a tree planting session at Bukit Gasing on Saturday, the 2nd of December 2017.

A total of 30 native hardwood tree saplings were planted along a widely used hiking trail in Bukit Gasing.

A healthy forest typically stores carbon at a greater rate than it releases through decay and respiration. Trees can convert carbon dioxide (CO2) into sugar, cellulose and other carbon-containing carbohydrates that they use for food and growth. Hence, trees are able to lock up large amounts of carbon in their wood, and continue to add carbon as they grow.

​Saving trees and planting additional trees are also vital for water resource management. Preservation of trees and reducing intrusion on the natural environment leads to better communities and a healthier environment.
